Southern Swamp Dogwood (Cornus stricta) - Also known by the synonym "foemina," or "femina" in older works, is a shrub to 5 m. tall, twigs reddish-brown with a white pith; leaves elliptic or ovate to ovate-lanceolate, 4-15 cm. long, with 3-4 veins per leaf side, lower leaf surface glabrous to appressed-pubescent; flowers in corymb-like cymes, petals 4, white; fruit a drupe, sub-globose, white to pale-blue.
Swamps, streambanks, marshes, alluvial forests.
